Hi everyone,I’m comparing silicone wire with regular PVC wire for a lighting project.
What are the main performance differences between them? Is silicone wire mainly better for high-temperature environments, or are there other advantages?I would like to know which type is more suitable for demanding applications.
Hi, thank you for your question.
The main advantages of silicone wire compared with ordinary PVC wire are temperature resistance and flexibility.
PVC wire is commonly rated for temperatures around 70°C to 105°C, while high-quality silicone wire can typically operate continuously at around 180°C, with some models supporting short-term exposure to higher temperatures.
Silicone wire also remains flexible in low-temperature environments, even down to around -60°C, while PVC wire may become stiff or crack in cold conditions.
Because of these advantages, silicone wire is especially suitable for applications requiring high temperature resistance, outdoor use, frequent bending, or flexible installation.
When choosing between silicone wire and PVC wire, we recommend considering the working environment, temperature range, and installation requirements.
