How do you usually choose LED neon colors?

I’m setting up an LED neon sign for a space and didn’t expect the color choice to be this tricky.

Some colors look great in photos, but I’m not sure how they actually feel once installed — especially for something that stays on for long periods.

Just curious about real experience:

  • Are there any colors that feel hard to mess up?

  • Any colors that looked good online but felt off in real life?

  • Do you choose differently for home use vs commercial spaces?

From my experience, warm white and soft pink are the hardest to mess up if the sign is on for long periods. They’re easy on the eyes and don’t feel tiring after a while.

Red and deep blue look great in photos, but in real life they can feel intense, especially in smaller spaces. I’ve seen a few installs where people ended up dimming them way down or not turning them on as often.

For home use, I usually stick to warmer or softer tones.
For commercial spaces, bolder colors make more sense since they’re more about grabbing attention than comfort.
