Hi all,
My old adapter stopped working and I’m trying to figure out what to buy. It says 4.5V on the label and something about IP44.
I saw a 4.5V 2.7W version on LEDLightsWorld. Is that basically the same thing or am I missing something?
Just want to make sure I don’t mess it up

Hello,
Thank you for your detailed question.
Yes, the IP44 Class 2 power supply you referenced is compatible with your application.
Here’s why:
Your original voltage is 4.5V, and voltage must match exactly.
The 4.5V 2.7W version provides sufficient output power for stable operation.
Class 2 certification ensures limited power output for safety.
IP44 rating makes it suitable for outdoor seasonal decorations exposed to rain splashes.
As long as the voltage matches 4.5V, a slightly higher wattage rating (such as 2.7W) will not cause any issue. The device will only draw the power it needs.
We recommend selecting the 4.5V 2.7W version for reliable performance.

Is IP44 enough if the decoration is sitting directly on the lawn?
IP44 is rain-resistant but not submersible.
It is suitable for:
Outdoor yard decorations
Covered patios
Tree-mounted string lights
However, the adapter should not sit in standing water. We recommend placing it slightly elevated or under cover for prolonged outdoor use.
I replaced mine last winter with the 4.5V 2.7W version from the same site.
Worked perfectly for my inflatable snowman. No overheating or flicker.
