Anyone here using UV LED strip lights? I’m interested but still unsure

Hey everyone

I’ve been going back and forth on whether I should buy UV LED strip lights, and figured I’d ask here before making a decision.

I recently found a UV LED strip collection on ledlightworld. They have different wavelengths, LED densities, and waterproof options, which looks nice, but it also kind of adds to my confusion . I’ve never owned UV lighting before, so I’m not sure if this is something I’d actually use regularly or just think is cool for a week.

I’ve got a computer room, and I’m thinking UV lights could really help with the atmosphere.I also like making small decorative items, and using UV light with resin projects feels like a perfect fit.

Haha, I’ve also been debating whether to get UV LED strip lights—feels like we’re both newbies :star_struck: :star_struck: If you end up installing them, would love it if you could share your setup and experience! I’m super curious to see how it actually looks.

Hey there!

I totally get where you’re coming from — UV LED strips can seem a bit overwhelming at first with all the different specs. From my own experience, here’s what’s been useful when deciding and actually using them:

  1. Wavelength choice matters – The most common UV for DIY resin projects or decorative effects is around 395–405 nm. It’s strong enough to cure resin, but not so dark that you can’t see your workspace. If you go lower (like 365 nm), it’s more “industrial” UV, which is harder on the eyes and you usually don’t need it for home projects.

  2. LED density vs brightness – More LEDs per meter = more uniform light, which is nice if you’re highlighting a surface or doing photography. For simple resin curing or subtle accents in a room, mid-density strips work perfectly.

  3. Waterproof options – If you’re just using them indoors on desks, shelves, or behind panels, you don’t need IP65 / IP67. But if there’s any chance of spills or you want a strip near an aquarium, waterproof is worth it.

  4. Practical setup tips – I usually cut the strips into small sections and mount them inside acrylic channels or under shelves. Adds a clean look and avoids direct glare in your eyes. Also, a simple inline dimmer or controller can be super handy to adjust intensity depending on your project or mood.

  5. Fun uses beyond resin – Even in a computer room, they make ambient lighting pop. Some people use them to highlight collectibles, LED signs, or even just edges of desks and shelves. It’s subtle, but the purple glow really changes the atmosphere without being distracting.

You are also a person with excellent taste.UV LED strip lights are a very practical product; they not only enhance the ambiance but are also used in many craft projects. If you’re only using them for decoration, then RGB LED strips are also a great option.:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
